Surf School for All

Y2 BSc, supervised by Chris Wilkins, WSA

With the brief of designing a Surf School for All. I aimed to revitalise the desolate site in Caswell Bay, Swansea with respect to the history of it being a popular destination which was abundant and biodiverse. Natural ‘beach’ aspects like sand dunes will be reintroduced to the site to combat the damaging coastal weather. Accessibility will be at the forefront of the design with a sensitive holistic approach to the surf schools layout with the main end user being ‘Surfability’ (government funded charity). The site is a meeting point of three journeys: the coastal path, roads and the ancient spring. A celebration of the culmination of these journeys will be integrated into the design through the creation of ‘iter ad natatio‘, latin for ‘journey to the natatio

natatio: unheated public pool in Roman Bath.
